The 9N AIV Pilatus porter aircraft of the Tara Air skidded off the runway in Lukla, around noon on Thursday. The plane carrying cargo from Ramechhap met with the mishap at 12:15 pm during the landing. The aircraft suddenly swerved from the runway and hit the gate of Hotel La Villa, which lies 15 metres away from the runway, said witnesses. Although the aircraft has been totally damaged, Captain Kosh Thapa escaped unhurt, said the Lukla Civil Aviation Office. Last year, Sita Air had similar accident here, and the aircraft is still there. Lack of enough space of the runway causes such mishaps time and again. Lukla airport is said to be the most dangerous airport of Nepal, and is considered seventh dangerous in the world.
