Even as the Nepali people were preparing to receive tika and jamara on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai was talking with elderly people at Pashupati Briddashram (old age home), along with his wife Hisila Yami Thursday morning. The elderly people at the old age home in Pashupati were all elated as they found themselves with the prime minister of the country on the Tika day, according to RSS.
Dr. Bhattarai and his wife reached there in the morning and distributed sweaters and horlicks to 229 old people living there. The PM enquired about the condition of the old age home and directed the concerned authorities to improve the condition of the Ashram. Office Chief Ram Sharan Thapa told RSS the prime minister expressed worries over the environment of the rooms for the old people, and directed the officials to present an action plan to improve the Ashram.
Likewise, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai and Hisila Yami also visited Maiti Nepal, and shared the sufferings of the women living there. The prime ministerial couple also played the swing erected there with the sheltered women. PM Bhattarai also distributed fruits to the victimised women at Maiti Nepal. Maiti Nepal founding chairperson Anuradha Koirala requested the PM to take concrete steps for stopping trafficking in girls, whereas the PM gave assurances for relavent concrete policies.
