Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai returned Kathmandu on Monday morning after taking part in the United Nations General Assembly at the UN Headquarters in New York. Speaking to media at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) upon his arrival, the PM said his visit to the UN was successful.
Expressing his commitment to the four-point deal reached between United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) Bhattarai said, the pact was in the national interest. When asked about his commitment to end the peace process in 45 days, PM Bhattarai said integration, categorization and rank harmonization of the PLA combatants can be completed within 45 days after the political parties agreed on modality of the army integration.
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar, leaders and cadres of UCPN-Maoist, Ministers, high ranking officials of the Nepal government and chief of security bodies welcomed the PM at the airport. The Nepal Army, on the occasion, had offered a guard of honor to the PM.
PM Bhattarai had addressed the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Saturday. Accompanying with the prime minister his spouse and UCPN-Maoist Politburo Member Hisila Yami and chief personal secretary among others, also returned home today.However, DPM and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha is scheduled to return home after two days.
