Pakistan’s proposal of touring Nepal before their World Cup qualifiers against Bangladesh was rejected owing to commitments of the Nepal team with their domestic league.
“We had tour negotiations for a friendly series with Nepal as both Pakistan and Nepal will be playing their World Cup qualifiers later on but the Nepal national team is busy with their domestic league and therefore, could not host Pakistan,” according to a Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) official.
The Pakistan national team will now continue their practice in Islamabad for the qualifiers which take place on June 29 in Dhaka and July 3 in Lahore. During the camp, they will play against several departmental clubs including KRL, Army, Navy and PAF.
The PFF official said the preparation was going smoothly and the players were actively participating in the camp. He also added that the first leg of the World Cup qualifiers in Bangladesh will be a crucial one as it will be an away fixture.
Zesh Rehman, Atif Bashir and Adnan Farooq will be the three foreign players in the squad while Jaffer Khan, Samar Ishaq and Arif Mehmood will play a pivotal role in the World Cup qualifiers.
