With a view to promote Nepal’s tourism in Tibet and fulfill its objective of increasing the number of Chinese tourists to one lakh during the Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011, the Nepali Consulate at Lhasa in cooperation with Tibet Tourism Administration and Foreign Affairs Office organised a promotion programme at Lhasa on Tuesday.
Speaking at the programme, which saw the participation of various stakeholders of tourism sector at Lhasa, Consulate General Ngaindra Prasad Upadhaya urged the Chinese government officials at Tibet and tour operators, travel agencies and media to visit Nepal as it is a developing tourism destination.
During the programme, executive deputy director general of Tourism Administration office Dr. Songping Wang urged the tour operators and travel agencies at Lhasa to prioritise Nepal by unveiling new tour programmes and special packages in order to make the NTY 2011 a success.
Also speaking at the programme, was deputy director general at the Foreign Affairs Office, Yang Xian Kun who pointed out that the tourism sector could play an important role in developing and extending bilateral ties between the two countries.
