According to the organizer, the fair will witness participation from countries like China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, Japan and Nepal. The South-Asia & China Trade Fair 2011 is all set to kick off from Thursday in Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu. The sixth installment of the event is being organised by Nepal China Executive Council (NCEC) and supported by Trade and Export Promotion Centre, Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries and National Micro Entrepreneurs Federation Nepal.
The five-day fair is being managed by Direction Nepal, one of the prominent names in the domestic event management set-up. According to the organiser, the fair will witness participation from countries like China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, Japan and Nepal. The fair, according to the event manager, is being organised with a motive of promoting products from different South Asian countries and China. “Local entrepreneurs will get to know about the business trend in South Asia and China,” said Pashupati Khatri, event director at Direction Nepal. “The fair will also give exposure to products having business prospects in the region.” The fair will feature 200 stalls exhibiting products like machineries, automobiles, construction equipment, health care products, agricultural products, electronics, textiles, home appliances, tourism products, handicrafts and food and beverages, among others. “Nepal will have 100 stalls and remaining will belong to other participating countries,” Khatri said. As a special attraction, the fair will feature a Dashain Bazaar where customers can shop almost all items required for Dashain. “There are a lot of shopping malls and department stores in city featuring products for Dashain under one roof, but the price they offer is very high. Therefore, we have come up with the Dashain Bazaar which will offer products at reasonable prices,” said Khatri, adding that around 60 to 70 stalls at the fair will be designated for Dashain Bazaar. At the Dashain Bazaar, consumers can look for several items ranging from clothing and cosmetics to home furnishing, art, antiques and handicrafts, crystal ware sets, food and beverages, leather Products and many other lifestyle products.
The show will also have musical programmes, food stalls and daily door prizes. Visitors can win prizes like mobile phones, television sets and goat through lucky draw. The organiser expects that the fair will successfully draw around 70,000 people. “Last year’s edition had fetched around 40,000 visitors. With Dashain on the horizon we feel that the figure of 70,000 is achievable,” said Khatri. Direction Nepal has left no stone unturned to manage the fair efficiently. “We have tried our best to deliver the best, mobilising all the possible resources,” said Khatri. Opening hours of the fair, which will run through September 19, will be 11 am to 5 pm. Tickets are priced at Rs 25.
