Nepal has beaten Timor Leste 2-1 with A. Gurung scoring in the 14th minute, J Da Silva scored the equalizer in the 47th minute and M. Rai Ju scored the winning goal in the 71st minute, in the first leg of the FIFA World Cup Asia Zone Qualifiers at Kathmandu today. Nepal currently ranked 147 in the world will play the away game against Timor Leste, ranked 200, again at Kathmandu on July 2. Assuming that they win this game as well, they face Jordan in the next round on July 23 and 28 in the next round. Jordan is ranked much higher than Nepal at 84 and will be a much tougher opponent to beat. Irrespective of the outcome, Nepal's soccer team is currently on a high after having qualified for the AFC Challenge Cup next year. Go Nepal!.
