SOS Children's Villages Nepal is working with its 'Plan' to make 3400 friends (local sponsors). We are determined to achieve the set goal by 2016. Recently, a video documentary was produced by SOS Children's Villages Nepal, National Office. The documentary is about the programs and policy of SOS Children' s Villages including the glimpses of the activities and achievement of the organization.

This year's SOS Day was especial in the history of SOS Children's Villages Nepal. Local sponsors, friends and well-wishers of SOS and local dignitaries were invited in the program. The video documentary was shown. Power point presentation on 'Branding' was another important event. As usual, the cultural program by our children and even by SOS Mothers were unforeseeable.

24th International SOS Day was celebrated in all SOS Children's Villages in local level as coordinated by National Office. In the capital, SOS Children’s Villages Nepal, SOS Children's Villages Jorpati and SOS Children’s Village Sanothimi jointly celebrated it in the premises of SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Sanothimi.

Chief Guest Mr. Satya Mohan Joshi, General Assembly Members and many other guests with their friends were hearty welcomed by the Children and co-workers in the hall at 2PM

After lighting the traditional oil-fed lamp and paying tributes to Prof. Dr. Hermann Gmeiner; Poet and renowned personality in the country,  Mr. Satya Mohan Joshi, from the chair of  Chief guest, recognized the legacy of Prof. Dr. Hermann Gmeiner and regarded  him as a ‘Bodhisattva’ – In Buddhism, bodhisattva is a person who is determined to help people to find out a way into Nirvana, and one who will in time become a Buddha so find out and to lead people into the ultimate freedom. He compared a bodhisattva and Hermann Gmeiner, and pointed out many similarities. The speech was loved and interestingly listened by all. He honored all the sponsors and friends of SOS Children’s Village by offering them a Khada (a traditional Tibetan garland made of silk), an incense box and a certificate.

After the Master of Ceremonies Ms. Susma Pokharel announced the end of program, all the guests were invited into one of the 16 family houses of SOS Children’s Villages Sanothimi to have dinner and to get inside into the life of children in the villages. All the visitors really appreciated the work of SOS Children’s Villages and showed their interest to help. They got in good touch with the children and felt like a part of the family of SOS Children’s Villages.

"Kalyan Niwas" was one of 16 houses where Chief Guest, Chairman, some guests and local donors were welcomed in home by the kids and SOS Mother of the house.

Surprise to many at the moment-Mr. Sujan Bhandari was one of the donors present in the house is DSP in Armed Police Force by profession. He said "Actually I want to welcome you all in my home. I was brought up in this house. Ms. Sarada Gurung is my Mom. Please see the group photo there! It was snapped while I was very young. They are my brothers and sisters by the sides." After pointing to the picture hanged in the wall and recalling those days, he thanked to SOS Children's Villages for his success in his life and gave all credit to his home.
